Embarassing Admissions #2

Posted by Jonah Weiland in General

It was two years ago that I posted my first embarassing admission, that time covering my unnatural love for “Neil Diamond’s The Jazz Singer.” I figured it was time to share another embarassing admission.

When it finally gets cold in Los Angeles, it somtimes takes me a month to remember to take a jacket with me when I leave my house. Let me explain.

See, here in sunny Southern California we experience approximately 265 days of excellent weather. I love when friends call me from back east from November through February, when they’re freezing their butts off and ask, “What’s the weather like out there?” I generally don’t even have to go outside to know it’s “Sunny and 75 degrees,” because it usually is. Those other 100 days are a mixture of pretty damned hot, (it can get up to 110 by my house) to pretty darned cold (it does get down to the 30s in Los Angeles during the Winter) with a handful of “Sunny and 75″ days thrown in just to remind us how amazing the weather is in SoCal.

Living in SoCal means you rarely need a jacket when going out. So, when the cold finally arrives, often unexpectedly, it takes a while for me to get in the habit of bringing a jacket with me when I go out. I’ll leave the house, get in my car, go to my destination, jump out of the car and realize, “Fuck! It’s ‘balls up-inside’ cold out here and I’ve got no jacket!” This goes on for another three to four weeks until I finally start remembering to bring a jacket with me.

Of course, once I remember to bring my jacket with me, I usually forget it once a year at some restaurant and have to go back the next day to pick it up. That’s already happened, a couple of weeks back.

Wow, that’s all kind of embarassing.
