“Studio 60” – It’s Alive!

Interestingly, after my last post in which I took “Studio 60” to task, I watched the latest episode “Nevada Day” and was floored – Sorkin was back! The episode was very engaging and funny. John Goodman as a small town Nevada judge was brilliant. Steven Webber was given some very meaty stuff to play with and, well, came through in spades. “This is a black American Express Card…” His entrances are always classic. Nate Cordry was finally given something to do other than be a sight gag or be angry with his father. All in all, a very promising episode which made me feel like the show had fully gelled for the first time this season.
Now comes word that the show has received a full season commitment from NBC. Fox News ran a rumor that the show was dead and clearly they were wrong. I’m hoping Sorkin writes this whole charade into a future episode – could be a lot of fun.
Congrats to the cast. I was concerned that just as I had a glimmer of hope for the series that it was approaching its demise. Now, we can see if that promise can grow.
Oh, and Aaron – more Steven Webber!
