Are Americans really that stupid?

So I’m watching the TV tonight and saw a commercial for Jeep. It opens with a Volcano violently errupting in the background. Slowly rock and volcano shit start dropping onto the bit of land the camera is now focused on. Suddenly a Jeep vehicle lands safely in the foreground. And at that very moment across the bottom of the screen in little tiny type are the words:
“Dropping a vehicle is only safe in commercials.”
If I was a praying man, right now I’d get down on my knees and pray to he-who-is that we’re not so stupid as a nation that the above sentene is actually required by law and not some silly joke.
