The Rest of the Country joins California

Posted by Jonah Weiland in General

Read this article today, which gave me a chuckle. It says that nationally we will shortly see gas prices above the $2 per gallon level. Right. We’ve been paying above $2 bucks a gallon for petrol for a good, long time now. Today I paid $2.43 a gallon for super (thankfully my care gets about 28-30 MPG generally). So it’s about time the rest of the country felt the hurt we have.

$2 a gallon. We wish.

Sleepus Interuptus

Posted by Jonah Weiland in General

Dammit. I really hate this.

My sleeping habits have always been a bit odd. I’ve always been a late night person, even since I was a kid. Hell, in elementary school I used to stay up to watch Johnny Carson routinely. It’s part of my genetic code at this point.

So, I generally go to bed later than most, say 2:30 in the morning or later. I like the late night hours where I can work in complete silence. No phone calls. It’s nice.

Tonight I got into bed at 2:15 and was asleep by 2:45. At 4:30 I was woken up by a phone call. One of my servers needed a reboot. No problem, takes just a few minutes to fix things. The problem lies in the fact that if I’m woken up soon after I fall asleep, there’s little to no chance of my getting back to sleep. I tried. I put my head down at 4:55, but by 5:30 it was clear I wasn’t going to get to sleep.

I learned a long time ago not to fight it. I could lie in bed for five hours before being able to get back to sleep, which just feels like a major waste. Generally, I have to just get out of bed, do something, and when I’m finally too tired to stay awake any longer, that’s when I get a couple of hours of sleep in.

I just really hate this, though. It’s going to screw up the rest of my day.

Apparently…I’m a Woman

Posted by Jonah Weiland in General

Today I got the following offer:

You are among a very small group of women invited to receive our W BAG - ABSOLUTELY FREE - along with 12 issues of W for just $1 each. Won’t you please reply by the deadline?

I’d like to make it publicly known, here and now in this place, that I am not a woman, I’ve never been a woman, nor do I intend to be a woman at some point in the future. I am not interested in te exclusive W bag. I am not interested in receiving your single lettered magazine, either. Although, if you do ave a single lettered magazine called M, I might consider it.

Because I’m a man. I’ll show you if I have to.

Sunset in the Valley

Posted by Jonah Weiland in General

Here’s a pic snapped with my LG VX6000 Verizon camera phone from a couple of weeks back. There was a particularly awesome sunset that day due to all the smoke from the fires taking place around the San Fernando Valley. It was taken while driving west bound on Sherman Way. The phone didn’t quite capture the colors of the event, but I still thought it was an interesting looking pic.
