Where is the real Donald Sterling?
Wow.
As some of you may have read, my beloved (fuckers) Clippers have been spending some cash. They signed coach Mike Dunleavy for four years, 10 Million smackers. Surprising and a good choice. Then, they signed restricted free agent Elton Brand to a big ol’ contract. While it’s certainly the very wise choice to make and it wasn’t a total surprise, it also wasn’t a sure thing. Good move #2. Then, the Clippers signed Corey Magette to a long-termer, too. THAT was a surprise and an EXCELLENT move. Good move numero tres! ESPN’s got a great story on these three big surprises in this article. It’s a nice read. It also points out how the signing of Odom is probably a formality at this point.
Finally, it also appears our bust of a point guard Andre Miller will not be re-signed by the Clips and is headed for the Mile High City. Another good move.
What the fuck has happened to Clippers owner Donald Sterling? Here’s an interesting article discussing how he’s gone about signing his players as well as how he built the team from nothing into a little bit more than nothing and made a manure pile’s worth of money off it.
Oh and just because he’s done the right thing with his team the last couple of weeks, don’t go sucking him off yet to show your appreciaton. Here’s a fun little bit from a recent wire report:
Clippers owner named in sexual harassment suit
Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling was sued by a former employee of his real estate business who accuses him of sexual harassment. In the lawsuit, which was filed on Monday in Los Angeles Superior Court, Sumner Davenport alleges that Sterling made “unwanted and offensive physical contact” that included hugging, kissing and touching her chest under the pretext of looking at her necklace. The suit also alleges that Sterling said he expected his female employees to be “more friendly” and that Davenport was getting “more stupid with age.”
Oh and let’s not forget there’s the lawsuit filed against Sterling over a memo he sent to the managers of the apartment buildings he owns in which he told them ONLY to rent to Koreans. Allegedly Sterling told his staff he did not like blacks and hispanics, allegedly stating that “Hispanics smoke, drink and just hang around the building.” Donnie, Donnie, Donnie.
Sterling’s almost as entertaining as that Steinbrenner meat head. At least Steinbrenner brings his Yankee fans championships.
Before I let you go, here’s another great article about Sterling’s penchant for business. Did you know he’s one of the few owners in professional sports that owns 100% of his team AND he paid only $13.5 million in 1981 for the team when they were based in San Diego? Dude.
