The Horror of Blimps
Charles sent me this, “The Horror of Blimps.” Really take the time to visualize what you’re reading.

I just invented a new word: sh-crap. I started to say shit and half way through the word crap came out. It’s pronounced like when you say “Shhhhh!” to quiet someone up, followed quickly by “crap.” Sh-crap is the best word ever.
Use it. Diseminate it. Get it into an episode of your favorite sitcom.
While I realize I’m a bit late discovering this song, for the first time today I heard Johnny Cash’s rendition of the Nine Inch Nails song “Hurt” and I am absolutely blown away. While not a major NiN fan, I do like much of their music and “Hurt” is good, but Cash’s cover of this song is phenomenal. REALLY moving. One of those times where the remake is even better than the original. Whoever had the idea for Cash to cover this deserves a big ass bonus. I hear the video is amazing, leaving NiN’s Trent Reznor speechless.
Ladies and Gentlefucks, Mr. Johnny Cash.
Edit 2/28/03: I’ve seen the video. I now understand why it leaves viewers speechless. Cash is shown as he is, an old, frail man who is clearly not down and out and won’t go easily. There’s a lot of fight still in this man.
The album comes out on March 4th from what I understand. I will be at the Virgin Megastore on Sunset Blvd. at 11:45 PM on the 3rd. Haven’t done that in a long while.

Today, John Ashcroft sported major wood as he took down a bunch of head shops, the “true” evil in the world. It would be nice if someone sent Johnny boy a copy of the movie “Traffic” or explained to him why the war on drugs is a futile one. The facts surrounding the “successes” of the war on drugs are mind-boggling.
It’s becomes clear that the Federal Government’s focus is so fractured that it’s a miracle anything gets done.
From the makers of “Best In Show” (excellent movie), “Waiting for Guffman” (CRAP!) and “This is Spinal Tap” (the best comedy of all time) comes “A Mighty Wind.” Think “Spinal Tap” with country music and I think we’ve got the movie. From a look at the trailer it appears that a number of actors from “Best In Show” have returned for this film. There even seems to be a bit of a Tap reunion as one scene from the trailer showed Guest, McKean and Shearer sitting together. Clearly they weren’t Tap, but having the three together is a plus.
What I’d really like to get ahold of one of these days days is the Criterion Edition copy of “This is Spinal Tap,” now very much out of print. A quick look on eBay reveals it’s still WAY too over priced.
John McMorran, the oldest living American man died Monday from heart failure. He was 113. “He smoked cigars, drank beer and ate greasy food. He was an amazing man.”
